How we get prices
Every price on BuildMyPC comes from a named UK retailer, carries the date we last checked it, and links to that retailer's own listing. This page explains exactly which offers we show, which we leave out, and why.
Where prices come from
- Retailer product feeds. Retailers publish their catalogue and prices through affiliate networks such as Awin. We import those feeds and match each product to our catalogue.
- eBay UK. New-condition listings from eBay's partner programme, shown with the seller's name.
- Amazon is link-only. We can't show Amazon prices that are current, so we don't show Amazon prices at all. You'll see a “Find on Amazon” link instead, and the price is whatever Amazon shows you.
Which offers count as a price
An offer appears as a price (and counts towards build totals) only when all of these are true:
- It is new: used, refurbished, open-box and “opened, never used” listings are left out.
- It is in stock at a retailer we currently work with.
- It is matched to the exact product by its barcode (EAN/GTIN). A name or part-number match alone is not enough.
- It passes a sanity check: anything below a sensible floor for its category, or under half the product's usual price, is treated as a wrong-item match and left out (so a £2.50 listing can never be a graphics card's price).
Offers are listed cheapest first, including delivery where the retailer gives it. Nothing is ranked by commission.
Dates and freshness
Each offer shows when we last checked it (“Indexed 17 Oct 2026”). That is the time we imported it, not a promise of today's price: retailers change prices and stock at any time, so always confirm at the retailer before you buy.
Where an offer disappears from a retailer's feed, we mark it out of stock rather than keep showing it. As daily retailer feeds come online, offers that haven't been refreshed for several days will stop being shown at all.
Compatibility and specs
The builder checks sockets, memory type, board size, graphics card and cooler clearance, power and memory slots from each product's listed specifications. When a spec we need is missing, the check says not verified rather than guessing, and we never recommend a part on an unverified check.
Performance figures
We only show performance results that were measured, with their source, date and sample size. Our first source is Blender Open Data (public domain), which measures 3D rendering, not games, and is labelled that way. We don't publish estimated scores or frame rates; where we have no measured result, the page says so.
How we make money
Some retailer links are affiliate links: if you buy after following one, the retailer may pay us a commission. It doesn't change the price you pay, which offers we show, or their order. More in our affiliate disclosure.
